Vetiveryl Acetate is a hybrid, possessing a mix of both natural and synthetic elements. It is a fraction of vetiver oil extracted from the roots of Indian grass and then combined with acetic acid to reduce its unpleasantly bitter and leathery notes.
The result is an elegant and refined molecule with the woody, slightly grassy character of vetiver, but far smoother and softer. Acetylation also brings out the grapefruit touch in vetiver, giving a more pronounced bitter-fresh top note.
